Does google set PR <1 for pages with variables?

On my site my main page is a PR5 under it I have several separate pages all of them have PR4 with the exception of my catalog which the Url looks something like this (mysite.com/CCS/Catalog.php?Cat=23) the 23 is the variables that changes. All of the pages have a PR<1. The funny thing is some of these pages link to other pages under them that have PR3.

Does Google consider these pages as to dynamic to give a PR?

Then google is seeing a "different page" every time it spiders. Thus, each unique "variable" page is given it's own pr. Since those pages have no inbound links - they are therefore - pr0.

but a catalog page , like "mysite.com/CCS/Catalog.php?Cat=23", would be the same the next time googlebot came around. isn't this different to using session identifiers in a url , which definitely ARE different every time you hit a page.

secondly, does googlebot ignore session identifiers in the url?
I've had to implement these because of IE6 and cookie probems, and my pages are being indexed ok, with some coming in at no.1 on certain key phrases.

it appears to me anyway, that google can distinguish between normal dynamic variables and session ids.

anyone else experiencing this?

That isn't what he is proposing. His change everytime through. G doesn't see it as a session id, but unique pages that only have 1 inbound link from the linking page.

Let's cut to the bottom line: get rid of all form values in all pages on your site. end of story.

To clarify what I was talking about.

The variable is a number from say 1 to 99 that represents a different page. Every time you go to 23 it’s the same and google sees it as such.

I have several links to that page so there is more than just 1 inbound link. Which is why I say its odd that some of the pages the catalog links to do have a PR above 0 even though it has <0 PR.

I do agree that dropping the variable is where I want to be in say 3 - 6 months but I am wonderning why the PR is acting the way it does now.

I have good PR for my dynamic pages and good ranking. They are linked to from static pages and dynamic pages across the web. Even though the URL stays the same, the page has different content every time it is loaded (random quotes & links) and Google does not seem to mind at all.

No, but there are problems with the PR displayed in the toolbar for dynamic pages with a '?'. It seems that Google consider these pages correctly during PR calculation, i.e. they are receiving and transferring PR as normal. However, the value shown in the toolbar isn't correct.
