I am working hard on a new site, and I have come to a path dilemia- I can go one of two ways, and I am not sure which might be better for ranking well in Google. Thought I would bounce it off the informed masses here, and see which might be a better way to go...
Basically, I can build the site in one of two places. One option has an "extra" sub-directory in the path, that I can pack with logical key words- so that is a plus- more keywords in the URL
The other option is to build in the root directory. This has the advantage of generating higher internal page page-rank, as each page will be one subdirectory higher (closer) to the root. As the intermediary sub-directory is not there, all the pages move up one directory, and should have a bit higher page rank.
Let's say it is a widget site, and one of the major sub-directories will be for Blue Widgets. Sample directories for the Blue Widgets pages:
www.example.com/Widgets/Blue_Widgets/
or
www.example.com/Blue_Widgets/
Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, whatever is best for you to manage the site will be better than trying to boost ranking through an extra keyword in the URL.
Imagine the URL in the Google listings, currently they are highlighting keywords in the URL so whatever will catch the users eye will probably result in more traffic that trying to please a blind googlebot ...
