hi,

does google only count the text on your index page or does it also count linked pages, and if so how much weight do the link pages have?

thanks

Each page is seen as an individual but is weighted according to it's whole existence. This includes the pages that link to it, the pages it links to and how those links are made.

You're question is very vague, I hope that this answer is somewhere close to what you were looking for.

all your pages will be fetched by google (if not excluded by robots.txt)
and all pages may be listed in their index.

So optimizing all pages can indeed be usefull.

But do keep the pages usefull for your visitors, it can be a bit annoying to go to a site and only see pages especially made for search engines ;)
Don't loose your perspective on what you actually want to put on your site ;)
