Personally, I always get a little jumpy around April 1st. One year they brought in a crate of pigeons into order to do some faster PigeonRank updates: [google.com...] Man, those birds were loud. I'm glad that they're normally at the data centers.

Then there was the year that they introduced the MentalPlex: [google.com...] It was a device that would read your mind and search for whatever you were thinking of. Let me tell ya, I was afraid to search all day. It turns out my brainwaves were analog instead of digital. And don't even get me started on the time when Sergey told everyone that the stock price had gone up. ;) Just give me a nice, quiet April Fool's Day anytime. :)

1G-Free-Storge-Gmail is a joke or not?

No pop-up ads. No banners.
You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest.

What if it is true, G wants run AdWords on the Gmail, just suspect it.....

Adsense publishers across the globe are reading that press release and saying ....

'Now I see where G are going with this model....'

Search, don't sort.
Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received.

That why you will always come back to G and see the adwords that are shown today.

Don't throw anything away.
1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message.

Or the adwords for that matter.

Keep it all in context.
Each message is grouped with all its replies and displayed as a conversation.

Each reply will have its own adword iframe relevant to its content

No pop-up ads. No banners.
You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest.

Ad blindness may set in... or KW bidding will go through the roof.

Now I know why they are working hard to stop spam mail and fine those that get involved with it.

Off Topic:

The gMail is a great April the 1st! Everyone has picked it up, bbc included. If it wasn't for 1GB per user required for storage though it would be something google could do (actually they still might be able to do it), ok maybe the april 1st is that everyone is saying it's an april 1st?
