I have a new page that, because of a movie that will be coming out in 2 months, I need to get in Google asap. I have a site that is visited virtually every day by google (but I don't know how often the index page is, though)...so should I just link to it there and wait, or submit the page to Google (which I've never done before?)

Personally I'd link and wait. Google is good at finding new pages, and you presumably want the benefit of Google seeing that link anyway.

A page that's been submitted but where Google doesn't see any links to it probably isn't going to be found easily.

Link and wait.

- link from your own page
- link from other pages? (other site's)
- wait.

I would say 1-2 days at the moment :)

Do both! - there's no penalty for a manual submit.

(they provide the manual submit, for you to, er.., manually submit if you choose :)

like SyntheticUpper, do both. The manual submit is slow though.

Indexed in 30 hours! Woo-hoo! Now, the next question. It's not in the top 200 SERP positions yet for the 4-word phrase I've optimized for...but from my experience with other pages, it seems like it takes a awhile (a few weeks or so) to move up through the SERPs & get some page rank...is this your experience, too?

...forgot to mention...it's linked to from 1 PR7, and thousands of PR4 pages.

Google won't see all the links at once; if they're natural links without an identifiable 'SEO pattern' then you might expect them to help over time.
