Site's Description in Google

do we have control over it?

Hi there; I understand Google gets the Site's Description from its content, but I am confused: I noticed 100-characters-long meta descriptions are incorporated in it but does anyone have a clue as per where does the rest of the description come from?
I was not able to find any recent post on this subject. Thanks

it could be from DMOZ if the site is listed in the directory - otherwise it is probably showing an excerpt of the text on the site that contains the searcher's keywords (AKA a "snippet").

Thank you for your reply PatrickDeese; :) I found what I was looking for under Google Knowledge Base when my post was moved. Thanks for bringing DMOZ up, I will consider it.
