A couple of questions that I've always wondered about

Hi everyone,

First of all, I've been reading this forum for a year now and it's really helped my placement on Google. I have a couple of random questions:

1. For the past two years, I've been using a name like widgetgidget.com for my site. Throughout my site, I use the words widget and gidget a lot, as well as in sequence (widget gidget). I'm very happy with my placement on Google when someone searches on the phrase widget gidget, but I'd like to place higher on widget AND gidget, when each is searched separately. Now here is the question: I also own widget-gidget.com. Since I am going through a major site change anyway, should I change my site to promote widget-gidget.com rather than widgetgidget.com? Would that help or hurt? What about if I have both urls pointing to my same domain?

2. When a user clicks my widgetgidget.com logo, I sent them to www.widgetgidget.com, and I use the entire address to do it. My thought was that by listing out the address rather than just using index.html, Google would see the address more often. Is this faulty thinking? Am I getting penalized for this? It's on every one of my pages.

Thanks for any help!

I am not a master-seo but I've been reading, working and exploring the seo world for the last 3 years. I am ready to bet my month's income from Adsense that using a hyphen between your keywords on your domain will help you a lot.

I think it will also help your backlinks and the internal anchor text links. IF you are going for a redesign then be sure to take advantage of the widget-gidget.com domain.

Regarding your 2nd question I would advice you to keep working with widgetgidget.com and not with /index.html. I am not sure with what you mean: <<Google would see the address more often>> but I am sure this will not cost you any penalty. I am using links to my domain.com - with very good listings on G - for the last 3 years and never had any problems.
