I had seen the occasional reference to duplicate penalties etc. The company name is a unique contrived word and has been showing up in competitors serps in cloaked pages that redirect to large industry sites that run affiliate programs. Mostly these looked like at home small time operators... Until now I am seeing larger portions of my text in serps of pages which cloak into a goliath in the industry that basically resells leads. This site advertises on all the major related portals etc. and has high PR. My site being 4 months old las a lower PR than they do... I don't know why they would need to use my pages except that for about a month they were pretty much top ten for a good deal of this industries keywords and now they are buried... not banned or out of the database...just they don't come up in searches thay they did. I had summed it up to being relatively new with too low PR to overcome the new google etc.
The question is how to tell if this or other competitors have cloaked enough of my site to cause me a penalty?
Thanks, the domain that has cloaked the content usually has alot of pages that use the "iframe" to cloak plain text pages and then display a page that does not match the cloaked page except for being an entry page for that industry. They also were using some obfuscated javascript redirects in some pages...
Content from my pages in question are being cloaked server side I believe because having javascript off makes no difference. Which also makes me wonder if there could be more wholesale "cut and pasting" of the pages and that is the reason for the extra caution of server side cloaking. I can see blocks of my text in some google serps when searching for the unique company name, but they have evidently instructed google not to cache their page either.
Is there another search engine which caches and does not obey no cache? Is there another way without crossing the line to see these pages? Is there a specific venue to ask google about this?
