I have a small page for an orchestra in Germany.
The last 2 weeks or so googlebot visited my index page every day and showed my page on position #1 when I searched for the name of the orchestra and displayed the time it was last indexed.
Now however I rank #31 although the name of the orchestra is in the page title.
Furthermore google displays an old version of the page dating 25th February. The last time googlebot visited my page was however 12th March.
Is this normal behaviour?
Furthermore I would like to know how often google updates its Open Directory data?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards

Is the site new? When did it go online?

Is this on a search that is the exact same as what had you as #1 the last 2 weeks?

If the site is new and your nice shiny #1 suddenly plummeted to #31, then this could be normal. It might pop back up as things shake out. There is speculation about a boost that happens with new sites; that could perhaps be a factor.
There is a chance that you got caught in an algo tweak too, of course...
What one does anyway is to get more backlinks, (links from pertinent quality sites to your orchestra site), add content, (lots of text/info that improves the site for your users), choose good <title>titles</title>, and be patient.

SEO takes lots of time and patience. You can't panic... when results change, just build more pages and don't change a thing on the old pages and of course get more links for all pages! If Google does not find you, Yahoo will!
My site has indexed 42.900 pages on www and 45.400 on www2
I think my pages have been spidered in the middle of an update.
Any suggestion? I'm loosing a lot of money every day :(
I made a decision 4 or 5 months ago that Yahoo would use most of the known Google Algo! Yahoo would never buy a SE without knowing the basics of that SE ALGO (Need I repeat This).
I know that after this IPO, Google will go back to 95% of the proven algo.
As a result my conversions are kicking butt! Yahoo is my number one source of traffic.
Just relax and let Yahoo find your old pages if they still exist! If not get tape backup, Google will come around!
