Google search and adsense: explain the difference

Ok this may be a little premature and yes I know the current dance/tweaks on Google has not really settled yet but…If you were the head of sales at Google and you wanted to increase the amount of revenue gained how would you do it?

As an example, a man walked into Colgate toothpaste once and said I can increase your sales by 20%. Colgate said that’s great, tell us how and we will give you a heap of money. The deal was stuck and the man simply sat down and said all you need to do is make the hole the toothpaste comes out of 20% bigger. Colgate then increased its sales without finding a single new customer…..

I may be mistaken here and forgive me if I am wrong but, undertaking a few searches on Google and my initial reaction is there is an increase in adsense users coming up in the top results. I don’t believe this is across all subject matters (that would be too obvious). Can’t prove it, but gut instinct would tell me there is an increase.

Has this new update manipulated its own results to boost advertising sales? Are there now more results which feature Google adsense? Is Google giving preferential treatment to adsense customers. Is this the face of things to come?

Its quick, it’s dirty but, if you’re going to float why not give the media something to talk about when you increase sales by x %....

In summary: Are Google making there hole 20% bigger?

It IS possible. I do not doubt that some members would regard it as very likely.

If it were true it would be very difficult to prove. If it is untrue it will be very difficult to disprove.

In the search terms that I monitor I have not seen a tendency of more websites with adsense in top positions, but if there is indeed such a tendency it may very well be at least two perfectly innocent explanations for it:

1. More webmasters on websites with good positions decide to have adsense.

2. There are some qualities that are more frequent on websites with adsense than on websites without adsense. The latest tweak of Google's algo has benefited websites with such qualities.

But this is only speculations.

I disagree. One of my sites is running adsense and it just dropped out of the index.

Time and time again it has been said that adsense has nothing to do with anything.

I wish it did though, but i also had a bad experiance with the last update, put a bunch of garbage in front of my content. Typical google behavior though, some win, some lose, customer still has to wade through heaps of crap before they find what they are looking for.
