Linking Campaigns Strategies

Many low PR links or few high?

I have only concentrated on buying links from high rank pages, being listed with major directories.

Obviously this helps my PR quite dramatically always having 'bout 3-5 PR5+ links coming in to the pages in question.

Now, there are thousands of links one could get that are lower than PR5 in large linking campaigns.

Is it really worth it to spend that much time as opposed to build upon few PR6 and PR7 links from let's say business.com and similar?

I woud be interested in any educated proof of one or the other strategy or mix.

Thanks, Jens

I don't see anything wrong with having a mixed strategy. Today's PR3 may be PR5 in a few months and could be easier to get now.

I believe more and more you need to concentrate on "themed links" ... "on topic"... "on subject"

Yahoo has moved away from Google and Yahoo traffic will be meaningful -- Yahoo does not give a hoot about PR!

MSN will be divorcing Inktomi someday (soon we hope). Another good source of traffic -- MSN does not give a hoot about PR!

Google has been PR manipulated to death.. I think they are trying to move a bit more towards "themed links" or "themed PR".

Hope that helps.

Agree with the themed links but I am not so sure about Y! and MSN, both mentioned in some fluffy statements about some type of ranking, sorting...

Anyhoo, mimicking user behavior and solid web developer intension I believe interlinking importance will be based on a mix of site/page weight and relevance, theme clusters and such.

So, if it's not Goggle PR somehow the "better" stuff needs to be listed atop anyways.

So I guess I will just pick up the first 50 SERPs and contact webmasters of the sites I really like...

You are asking if you should only "buy" PR from high PR sites?

hmmmm.....do you think this may have occurred to Google?

PR is a nonsense when it becomes easily available for sale. Instead of buying Adwords the site owner can buy PR at a fraction of the price and generate much more traffic.

The single biggest problem all SE's face today is how to deal with the site that "buys" link popularity. In Google's case it was exaggerated by the PR weighting.

I believe Google now understands this issue and in future will look at other criteria.......what is written on the page maybe a good start!
