Will more people start ignoring googles advice?

Multiple domains could start rising fast soon

I was sat here replying to another post and it got me thinking.

Google for years has said that it doesn't like multiple, identical domains selling the same products so the vast majority of people stuck with that policy and just created the one web site.

Then along came Florida and Austin and a whole load of people who followed the rules to the letter got wiped off the face of the earth. It was meant to target the abusing sites but ended up crippling hundreds of thousands of honest sites who obeyed the Google rules strictly.

After the last two Google updates I can foresee a surge in people creating more than one web site to lessen the chances of disappearing completely.

Google may not want multiple domains but if it carries on dropping the innocent how many of the policy-followers will get fed up disappearing and resort to dismissing Googles advice and setting up extra sites to combat a total loss of their web presence.

I have never had all my eggs in one basket and nor do most of my clients. Although we all sailed through Florida some of my clients sites did get hit by Austin but because they had more than one site they didn't drop completely. I've watched a lot of people go through hell on here and I really wonder if people will risk a total drop for a third time or will they instead prepare for the third.

Most know about adwords and advertising but a lot of online stores sell so cheap the profit margin cannot sustain advertising for long.

This isn't a sour grapes post because I got through both updates without any major problems. This is just an observation.

Thoughts anyone?

Simon.

I know it isn't sour grapes, it's just about a matter of sheer survival for some people now. That's very much the case about the profit margin factor, especially for a lot of Mom & Pop operations. Some can actually end up losing money their margin is so close.

It is really scary for business' that that are left offthe "first page" for the searches that could genenerate widget sales, widget rentals, etc. The web search can truly make or break a company. And print media prices have not dropped in relation to traffic in many areas. I know since this last update brand was launched, we did as many widget rentals in like 7 days as we had the previos two weeks and it made is want to hire 2 more people with the over 25 requests for widget rentals--making us want to desparately hire more people-

but relying on this is so uncertain, and print media is so expensive and so much less targeted than adwords--addwords can buy you time until you get your organic listings back.

Those that will succedd will be those that are flexible and dilligent with their seo efforts--now more than ever attention to detail will prevail as search engines continue to "attempt" to perfect their results

Does Google really care?

if a company were capable of caring, it would be for their bottom line--the only thing that helps googles bottom line is relevancy--that is the extent to which they care

no further, no less
