It helped a friend i havn't heard from in years find me. Normal search engines wouldn't pick out the phrases he used to find me - and using something unqique i used to say and a handle i used to go by he was able to find me :)

Thanks google for uniting me with a great long lost friend :)

Yah, Byron, I've had that happen, too, and it's really nice to hear unexpectedly from old friends.

Yeah but it worked in reverse for me! Old boyfriends from 20 yrs ago keep getting divorced and track me down. ;)

I have the same thing happen with one guy I work with. There is someone with exact same very unique name. They are both famous painters but it like I get many requests for the other guy who shares the name. I am now an expert of these guys careers.

GoogleGuy I am not looking for long lost friends at the moment. I am a consultant looking for inquiries that will put food on my table. So I'm afraid that right at this moment Google is not so good for me!

When is something going to be done about all those of use whose cache, titles and descriptions you have dropped for no apparent reason? (The more I think of it, I suppose it's easier to comment on the plaudits.)

Well, actually.. its almost against any search engines TOS to use the search engine for financial gain.

Best of luck getting back to where you were, but i still find google index to bring me EXACTLY what i'm looking for second to none.

from the testimonials:

"I'm a musician, and I've had my guitars for years. Recently, I had the misfortune of having my guitars stolen. The next morning, sad but not defeated, I began to hunt for them using Google. I was amazed to actually find them online! I alerted the police as soon as possible, and thanks to their help I'm going to get them back! Google helped me track them down. An amazing piece of technology and an wonderful story about the power of the Internet! Thank you Google for helping me save my guitars and getting them back!"

This is a bit hard to believe .. the next day!

Maybe googlebot loves guitars?

Let's face it, he would have been coded by a leather jacketed Led Zepplin lover....

Probably had a good title out front of the shop, lots of good content inside (albeit stolen) and lots of roads leading to it.

I call it the "Atmospheric Googl+e Crawl" A new method and algo coming soon. Crwling the airways... :-]

Have you exhausted ppc and adwords efforts? I know free search engine listings are hard to come by, so I wouldn't rely on them for sustanence.

He didn't say he found them the next day, just that he began looking for them.

Picky (excuse the pun), I know.

Cannot blame the GoogleGuy for being cautious and selective on what he chooses to provide written comment
on.
Probably does not mean he is not looking into the problem.

I received a response from Webmaster @Google on 2/24/04
that acknowledged the indexing problem and indicated they were working to fix it.

You are correct of course, but I am not blaming GoogleGuy and I do understand his caution. It's just that those of us in this predicament have been soured by these events. It's hard to sit back and listen to Google receiving plaudits like this without some cynicism.
