Last week I noticed my content was 'borrowed' by one of my competitors who cloaked it into Google. After asking the company to remove my copyrighted material from their site and from Google they answered that it was a mistake and that the content had already been removed (the content is still in Google though).

A few days later a post appeared in Voelspriet, a Dutch site about searching and search engines. I certainly wasn't the only one, a whole bunch of Dutch seo-sites had been ripped and fed into Googlebot!

So far, so good, until this morning when WebWereld (Dutch for WebWorld) placed a news article about it on their site. More publicity and more respondents. To my surprise most readers blame Google for letting this happen and only a few blame the company for stealing other site's content and cloaking.

The company responded with a special page on their web site offering a special discount for their method which "has now been cured of startup problems."

I almost feel ashamed to be a Dutch seo!

@MyWifeSays
The cloaking site has already been removed from the index.
Thanks Google!

The company itself removed the 'thanks Webwereld' page with the new customers discount.

@GG
I've asked Jeroen to contact you, if you need further translation of the Dutch threads please let me know.

idoc seems to use a very good Dutch/English translator :) (which one idoc?)

New development: the seo company involved has also worked for clients. Tiny little detail: they have indexed and cloaked their clients advertisers web sites...

Once I get pointed to an example, my need for translations goes way down. :) I've always heard that Frisian is a neat language too and wished I could learn. I've always enjoyed Janwillem van de Wetering, for example. Thanks for pointing me to the initial domain; Check back in a few days on this one. :)

Googleguy, I submitted a spam report, and an email to google@google.com. Thanks for looking at this problem for us.

Thanks
C
