My understanding of this is that if the IP addresses are from the same C Block of IP address(111.111.111.****) and you are heavily cross linking from all your sites, then that *may* set up a flag for google.

Having said that, you are going to get a lot of different opinions on this as it doesn't appear that anyone really knows what google thinks on this matter.

Shared hosting with additional IP for your sites should not cause you any harm, but if you have dozens of sites then it is a better idea to spread them to different servers.

Thanks for your reply.

I also understand with my knowledge is, c level has to be different to be ragarded as a different ip by google. And second thing is, using 4 servers, i can link my all the sites to the sites hosted on different server. But not to link sites hosted on the same server. But if i have 3 sites hosted on the same server and ip is different on c level, i think there wud not be any problem.
Thanks

In reality it has to do with the network and host addresses.

While in most cases this would refer to the class 'c' subnet, this is not directly identifiable as you are unable to see the subnet mask (measured in 4 sets of octets, or 8 binary digits), 255.255.255.0, however there are some standard rules that can be but often are not adhered to (lookup subnetting in google).

To stay on the safe side I would recomend using IP adresses that look very, very different. For example 12.3.5.x could be seen on the same network as 12.7.3.x as they are both class 'a' addresses with a corresponding 255.0.0.0 subnet mask, making 12 the network address and the remaining octet's the host address.

I think it greatly depends upon the necessity and your need as well as your willingness to manage different accounts on servers.

If you have 12 websites (3 sites x 4 servers), perhaps only 1 or 2 servers with different ip at c level should be adequate to make your life easier, provided you have many inbound and outbound links from and to other websites as well.

For example, if you interlink your 12 sites on 1 server with different ip at c level, it won't do you any harm when you have a hundred or more links in/out to other websites as these interlinks are a very small number compared to the overall links of each site in your network.

Anyway, that's only my opinion and you may use 4 servers if you prefer to be on a more cautious ground.
