We are now back to page #2 or #3 on most 2 word searches, we have reduced keyword density but I think it is more of a tweek that Google is doing.
Keep in coming Google.
Ref: No Adwords at all on .co.uk, the IP I'm getting appears to be 66.102.11.104
I'm seeing Adwords on that at 10:11am UK. I'm not sure that IP is .co.uk it has "English" under the Google logo which we don't normally see on .co.uk.
I can only see two sets of SERPs. Occasionally I see my page pop in at #7 for my main term, then I try again and its at #96.
The SERPs at AOL.co.uk sometimes look better (not including my site but better) then I repeat the search and crap rises to the top again.
Best wishes

Top SERPS are now just as in google.com and are inundated with "authority" sites that might have just 1-2 mentioning of the keyword(s) in the content or anchors.
"Authority-sites-sqeezing-the-life-out-of-smaller-highly-relevant-sites" approach is spreading...

not!
And does this explain why:
Search pages within (country)
hasn't been working properly?
How long has Google been diverting UK searches to English language searches? Have searches in other countries been affected by this diversion from a geographical search to a much wider language search?
I'm in danger of going off topic, but it certainly relates to SERPs quality. Maybe a new thread? Thanks

more seach results within results.....im seeing something new now....a site where not only are the results all over the place but each search is made into a subdomain so results pagse from this search engine is keyword1-keyword2.thisdomain.com/keyword1-keyword2.htm ...dear old google has 92,000 of ts pages which shows above real content sites....yep...all the spam is gone...!
It makes you wonder why they bothered. No matter what the algo someone somewhere will find a way to Spam it. With 3.4 billion pages there must ahve been amny who suddenly found themselves on top, analysed why and then replicated what they had done.
I've noticed that many, not all domains that are like this blue-widget-keeping.com have disappeared from SERPs but subdomains like this bluewidgetkeeping.blob.com seem to be doing well in some SERPs.
This new algo is either completely crap and they are committed to it for some strategic reason or it is full of bugs and they are desperately trying to debug it. If the later is the case it must be a complete nightmare because they clearly changed a few things (probably in a vain attempt to confuse us) and they are probably having as much difficulty trying to figure out the logic of the resultant SERPs as we are. Thats why they want us to point to bad SERPs it helps them to find the needle in the haystack.
The nice thing about the second possibility is that we can all feel a certain ammount of satisfaction that the guy responsible for all of this is probably having as many sleepless nights as webmasters whose sites were dropped have.
Best wishes

I've found 3 IP addresses by pinging www.google.co.uk that actually return Google English.
I'm just wondering if Google is turning off geographical searches, and making them language searches - this could be bad news for folks in the English speaking world trying to target their own country only.
(The ramifications, of course, could extend into many other regions / languages. So apologies for my anglocentric approach, I'm merely speaking about the particular UK / USA / Australia / Canada case I understand.)
Froogle, of course, is not capable of rolling out in the UK. But if UK searches are dispensed with, and turned into 'English' searches it will then be available. Hard to see, though, a UK surfer getting a bargain by buying from across the Atlantic - and vice versa.
I think it is more they like the structure of the site. It appears to favor theme and link text above content itself...at least for now.
Anyone know a good open source directory building script that uses odp or other rdf data? Sticky me please if it is convenient.
I Don't Think So, At least Not in the money keywords and keyword combinations I watch. (If there are no, or very few paid ads, the serps look to be almost unaffected). From my point of view, like Florida, just more more keywords added to the list.
More than ever, there are more directories, sites with only advertizing and more search results, affiliates with duplicated or no content. All in top placement, and the sites that were, and are still revelant, (including mine) are gone.
Better grab back ahold of that knob and crank it quite a bit more G.

the new logo taht have english may be as recent as Austin but not sure. others can confirm
as long as you still see pages from the UK or Canada radio button on front page, geo results will still be served
