I work as a web designer, ive recently over the last year or so been trying to swat up on SEO as a whole. Im finding it hard, no correction im not generating profitable results. Ive only been testing out my research on one of my sites over the last six months or so...im not claiming to even know the half of what im attempting.

its a 30 page site, its advertising widgets in a specific area of widget land, includes information on widgets, about widgets, how to get to widgets and the basic pricing and contact details, ur probably wondering how does he expect to do well in google....

so ive tried my luck with google...its not working out for us were gonna try to move on and better ourselves (ride the storm)

our keyphrase n*e*r*j*a villas -

quite a popular one - 30,800
ne*ja is small town in sp*in and we own 9 villas there so we made a site and through word of mouth magazine adverts we book them up nicely, but we want better web coverage...

so where can i start:

[webmasterworld.com...] nice starting point, were planning a themed site, perhaps thats the answer? build a site for n*rja rather than a site for the villas, if we can make our site a refrence site we stand a better chance of surfers finding alternative points of entry and more incoming links?

im looking for advice, a small business point of view on an ever changing medium, we want what every other business wants or is striving for is there room for us?

my guess, we need more content, better optimised pages, themed layout, and more time dedicated to keeping up with SEO SEM and Google as a whole...

suggestions please..........
