Hi all,

How many internal links should be there on each page that can assure you good PR and ranking.

Is there any penalty assosiated with it?

Thanks

I don't worry about the number - just how efficient it is for the user. Where I have multiple directories with similar content - say accommodation in different areas - I tend to link them all from the base of each relative accomm page.

I also do quite similar - on the base of the same pages as above - where I link the main info (in my case travel regions) as well. And the link back to the sitemap.

I also link out to clients pages from relative pages with a link back of course - using the same key terms.

So to me it is more about ease of using the site than numbers. If it easy and works for the site user G doesn't penalise it (so far)!

Our PR is medium - but SERPs are fantastic... so to me PR is less of an issue - increasing traffic is my priority!

Google Guidelines:

"Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100)."
