I was watching the egress early this AM and heard an interesting milestone mentioned; today will be the first day of international communications on another planet. The European Space Agency's Mars Express & NASA's Spirit will link up for a flyover chat.

The way they explained it, Spirit will be able to better analyze a few ground experiments by having a grasp on the chunk of atmosphere between it & Mars Express during the experiments. Cool of Google to give them all a pat on the back.

One small excursion for a bot, one giant excursion for bot-kind. Gotta salute the folks who put Spirit up there. Spirit is a hero for all the little googlebots. We have to keep them on track or else they'd all crawl all over the NASA site for the last few weeks. :)
