Hi All,

I noticed this problem before Christmas when new pages I uploaded did not come up in a search. I added gift certificates to my site and cannot bring them up on a Google search by typing gift certificate and my website name. About three weeks ago I added pages related to Valentine's Day. Still nothing is showing up. My recent index page updates are showing up on a search but not the specific pages mentioned above. My site has been online for over 1 year.

I would really like to nail down what is going on. I used to be able to tell which Googlebot had visited my site. Suggestions?

New pages do not always get added to Google all that quickly. If Google cannot find a link to the new page from a high PR page that it's already indexed, and which is itself indexed regularly, it won't be in any hurry to seek out your new pages.

One way to draw Google's attention to new pages is to have a "What's New" page on your site. If this page is updated regularly and easily accessible from the home page, Google will visit it regularly and will see the new links to the pages you've just added.

I have a pr 4/5 restaurant website for which I have always been able to rank well(#1) for the various holiday menus such as location New years, easter, pray for snow, etc. I link from the home page and from the events page.
Rather than sweat it though, I've now taken to keeping the links active year round on the events page (or site map). You can put up pictures of last year's event if you like to pass the time between annual events. Having the page up and indexed usually will result in an almost immediate (but fluxy) response to your new content. However, next year's events won't be 'til next year and none of this may apply. To be safe, get a page title and introductory content up 3 months prior. Then update as menues, product pages, event schedules, whatever becomes available. Keep updating. As the event nears, make your page a flurry of constant activity. And keep getting new external links, and/or change the important pages linking to it.

also,m make sure you link them directly from the homepage. Most smaller pages , PR 6 or less, will only get their homepage daily botted, and perhaps a few other pages. Besides that, it might jsut be a question of PR.

I've noticed a huge difference between PR 6.15 and PR6.55 on the homepage regarding how quickly linked pages are added to the index.

killroy, just how are you determining PR6.15 and PR6.55 so accurately? I know there is a HandyDandy figurin' tool somewhere, but you can't pull those kind of figures from it.

Don't know how accurate, but for comparison purposes on my own sites it does seem to reflect heir true relative PRs within PR6, for example....

Use at your own risk...
