My page like others here suffered as a result of the google Florida update. I'm in the process of deciding whether to revamp the site or strip out certain areas.

Here's my question. Has anyone tried to use Java to code an array with multiple page titles where a function picks a random number associated with the title and displays the title. Do you think google would cache the java title as 'new' or would this javascript strategy trasparent to search engines thus eliminating the <title> tags?Thoughts?

-cheers-

Hi Bill,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld,

I'm not completely clear on your exact approach because you mentioned both Java and JavaScript. However, due to the fact that you are talking about something that runs client side, I'm afraid it wouldn't produce the results you desire. You would need to build something that inserted the titles server side. Otherwise, a bot will never see them.

Hmm, would it confuse your visitors that the page title kept changing?

Your rankings in the SERPs would also go up and down a lot depending on what title you were sending at the next crawl.
