Google Category/Description Loss

The old http:// or http://www.

Probably because people add www. to my url when linking, Google now indexes this variant of my site in #1. Therefore I have lost the category and description tags because I'm indeed in DMOZ/Google without the www. Does anybody know if there's something I can do, or whether Google is just going through a temporary oddity.

If your site is hosted on an Apache server, you can always try a 301 (permanent) redirect from www to the address without the www.

Make sure that all incoming links point to just one version of the URL (I prefer the www version), and do the 301 redirect thing too.

Allow at least 4 (and maybe up to 10) weeks for effects to be seen.

Thanks for that advice. It's real hard to tell people how to do their links - much less ask them to change them. Also some search engines will automatically add www to the front of urls, it seems. I was hoping we'd see an end to www. altogether.
