When the google directory last updated my site got an edit to its description, the new description shows up in the directory, but the serps are still showing the old description. The google directory has been showing the new description for months now, has anyone else seen things like this?

Seems to me Dmoz days with google are limited. With all the info collected from adsense and googlebots the only real use dmoz has is for categorization, and even that is questionable..

A small site of mine changed title and description about two years ago. I tried several times to get DMOZ to update and finally gave up. It's still in the Google Directory wrong as well as the description in the serps.

I've never believed that the ODP had any significance to Google rankings beyond the PR value of the link, and Google uses ODP data for its directory because it is free. The ODP is quite useful for categorization in some subject areas.
