Ive been thinking of writing a website in xml 1.0 as opposed to xhtml or html 4.01... I was curious as to whether anyone knew of the impact this would have on page rank.

Theoretically, you would think it would help, as parsing xml is programmically more rigid than non-valid html...

Whoa, I come back to what I thought would be a dead thread...

Writing pages in xml by hand doesnt make alot of sense at the moment (though I dont find it significantly different than writing xhtml): but in the world of generated content it does in many instances. Shopgal: you have good ranking AND your page is written in xml 1.0, not xhtml, right? That is interesting...

And yes, XML's time has already come in many circles, and when IE supports it fully, you will see many xml pages showing up. Until then, yeah, its completely impractical from a business standpoint (unless your market is all Linux users).

Its gonna happen... I just want to be fully versed in the technology when the time comes.
