Can someone explain why an Australian Website thinks it's snows at Christmas?

Sometimes the Americancentric Universe gets on my goat!

Just did a search for Australian christmas cards. The top result from a .co.au site has a banner with

...wait for it...

Lots of lovely fir trees covered in snow!

LOL :)

p.s. the literal translation of solstice is 'Sun still' or 'Sun stands still.' This was noticed by the ancients. In the N hemisphere it rises & sets progressively North of due E and due W until around 21/22 December, where this apparent movement halts (Sun-still, Solstice) Shortest day in N hemisphere, longest in S hemisphere. After the solstice its rising and setting tracks back toward due E and W, until it hits them at equinox (equal day/night length) and then heads S towards the Summer solstice where in the N hemisphere its now midsummer with the longest day and all the hippies go to stonehenge to drink mead and read Tolkien. Situation is reversed in the S hemisphere. The Poles are a special case, the Sun is above the horizon during summer, below in Winter, and circles on the horizon like a continuous twilight during an equinox.

I don't know what to think of the progression. I wonder if they are slowly revealing some new Google. When they finaly dig out Google will we get some new massive update where Google only shows pdf's or something.

It'll be funny if tomorrow we're discussing whether the doodle is a metaphor for the increasing industrialization of our world and how that impacts quality of life. Sometimes a snowman is just a snowman. :)

GoogleGuy, who now know much more about solstices than yesterday too..

Somewhat related to jimbeetle's "google blindness"

I wonder was the CTR on that Wright Brothers Centennial of Flight?

I hope not! I don't like Google indexing them.

3 = Snowplough pushing away the snow and the middle 'o'. The little snowman is shocked and the other one is scratching its head again.

I bet I will miss tomorrow's one :(

At last I think that Google are showing us that they also think that the snow-plow crashing into their logo demonstrates that Google is broken. Honesty?

They're great - esp. the idea of a progression.

Why didn't the one scratching his head get a "Google Scarf"? Doesn't he support AdWords?

Yesterday they were hand editing with shovels, today they have used a machine.....but destroyed the logo in the process. Maybe "Humans Do It Better".....afterall;)

Hmmm, given how some folks swear google turned the world upside down, maybe the two snowmen are actually Gilligan and the Skipper and yesterday they were hunting for the Howell's,who were buried in thier lounge chairs by the unexpected blizzard, and today, the professor, having built a dump truck out of coconuts and palm trees is rushing away with Mary Ann and Ginger to find more food.

too far fetched? well, iffin they are unwrapping coconuts tomorrow won't that just frost yoursnow shovels a bit? 8^)

The snowplow is taking away the "Gold" o, will it be replaced with another letter? Perhaps a new color? Who is driving the snowplow? Do I win one of these google scarfs?

Ha! GG knew about the spewing snowplow before it went live.

"The snowplow is taking away the "Gold" o, will it be replaced with another letter?"

I'd have to say they'll replace it with a wreath.

If we all just wait a couple months all the snow will melt and we'll all know whats under the snow, until then we're just frosty confused snowmen scratching our heads. I think the snowman throwing up his arms might represent the "wasn't me" heard around the G-plex.

Merry Christmas

wow, a very talented guy.
One thing surprised me was:
Indian Independence Day = 15th August
Koren Independence Day = 15th August too, and yet, there is no connection between them AFAIK.

Ok, Back to the topic, nice find again amznVibe, how do you find all this stuff?

That article is the top entry in Google's own directory for News & Media [directory.google.com] and he has 350 hits on Google [google.com], impressive.

Dennis Hwang has his own Wikipedia [en.wikipedia.org] entry and has also been featured on TechTV [techtv.com] and NPR [npr.org] (national public radio).
