How to force google bot to re-cache or index pages

Hey all, just curious if there is a way to force google spiders to reindex home page. I'm currently ranked third for critcial keywords and have made several "better content" changes to the home page but keep getting refreshed with same original cached page.

I'd like to be able to actually re-index or re-cache my home page as I feel it will help our positioning greatly?

Looks like you stumbled into the wrong forum :P You could get google to reindex your home page quickly with a link from another domain, this will probably be the most reliable way. There are no guarantees and the best way to get the spider to visit your site is to get some off-site links.

"Force" Google? No no no... one does not force Google to do anything. You can gently coerce googlebot with increased external linkage, or you could politely ask them via the URL submission box, but that's about it.

I've heard rumors that using the positive voting button the toolbar at a particular site will attract Googlebot with in about half an hour. And there's been no indication whether or not this results in actually adding this newly-found information to their index.

I've never verified any of this, so until it's been thoroughly tested, it should remain as "rumor" status.
