Ya, the feed providers screw up and feed in an old one every once-in-awhile.

Overall, I have been pleased with the timeliness of the Google News alerts, but last week I did receive two that were about a month old.
As Brett stated, it's probably more a problem with the feed providers than G.

Do most feed providers give feed Google plain text? I have a site that feeds Google News, and they just crawl the homepage. (Even though we have extensive XML-based feeds publically available).
If they do the same on, say, ZDNet - then its Google's fault they picked up an old story that probably happened to be on a index page. Right?

yeah my site is on Google news and they just pick up new links from my homepage to new news stories as and when they show up - so prob an old link showed up on there home page
