Hello

I have a travel related website which appears and then disappears, seemingly at random, from from the #1 position on google. This has been happening every day for the last 2 week or so.

When it disappears i can't find it on the first 10 pages of google.

The site, pre florida, ranked highly for my particular 2 word search phrase.

I wonder does anyone know why i am being switched on and off like this?

Google has different datacenters. You are ranking well in one or more, and poorly in one or more.

Give it some time to settle down.

Doire, I too am having the same issue for one of my preferred keyphrases. I keep going from #4 & 5 to # 1 and 2

It's a bit like a chocolate wheel, Where she stops is anyone guess :o) Murthy's law makes me think I won't win the prize though :o(

Hi Doire,

Sounds ominous.
Keep an eye on it and let us know if it disappears for good.

This is the exact same behavior I noticed before the Florida update, after which my travel related site disappeared for certain key phrases.

It may be the integration of extra filters...oops, I mean the new algorithim...oh dang, what I really meant was the New and improved FRrrrrrr - Google!

DISCLAIMER

Please accept my sincere apologies if my wry sense of humor offends anyone on this board, especially if they happen to be a high ranking officer pulling the switches in the PLEX.

Sounds like a very typical scenario in travel and lots of other areas, according to Google's algo your site appears at #1, when the filter gets applied you're out.

At the moment all the data centers are the same except for -in. What is probably happenning is that in your area -in is being used part of the time. You are either in -in or the rest.

Use one of the tools to check all the data centers to see what is happening. Can't list the tool here however a search in Google will bring one up. If you can't find it just sticky me.
