Meta description question

Hello,

One of our websites is based on a fully dynamic CMS,

I have spent a lot of time tweaking the code to make it GoogleBot friendly (adjusting urls, page titles....) to get some ranking on google.

I really think i've done pretty much everything i could think of and read about here, and it worked to some extent but the overall results are still not satisfying.

I have a question regarding the importance of the Meta description tag, because it's the only thing that's still not optimised on the website.

Actually, most pages carry the same Meta Description, could this hurt rankings on google?

Since it's a tricky issue (technically) to have every page have it's own and unique meta description, i would like to know what's the best solution :

- Keep it as it is (with most pages having the same description)?
- Remove the tag entirely?
- Go ahead and make it unique for evey single page generated.

What do you think?

Regards;

It won't hurt much. I have a large CMS site in the exact same position as you and rankings are fine.

Try to generate dynamic title tags if you can for each page that are descriptive of the page. That will help you out.

If possible cannot hurt to make each unique as possible.
