Hey all!

Our company relies heavily on online traffic. With over 7500 pages on the net we were receiving huge traffic and know our rankings have all but dissapeared! Should we redesign our pages or wait for google to come to their senses? Google sent us over 70% of our vistitors and now we are getting hit hard by the alg changes! What to do?

Also what happened to the little red markers next to sites in Yahoo who were paid inclusions?

There are no more little red ribbons next to any sites on Yahoo/

Please any help would be great for this webmaster who is losing 10 lbs per day now!

Also should I relocate our shopping carts to their own dedicated domain?

Sincerely,

Steve,

Impossible to say without knowing the URL. Can you put in your profile?

I'm confused.

The algo. changes took place over the last couple of weeks.

If something happened to your site listings today, then it might be unrelated to the algo. changes.

Did I misunderstand?

New users can't post homepages in their profiles. I think it's because the SE's can crawl the profile pages.

sharplab, it's Florida by the sounds of it. You can spend a lot of time here reading many different theories on why some commercial sites had problems. Just look for the longest threads posted since Nov 15.

Should we redesign our pages or wait for google to come to their senses?

The redesign might be premature. It very possibly has nothing to do with on-page factors. My own pet theory is recip-links but that's very possibly wrong. Some have speculated about anchor text. You can consult the florida threads but honestly, no one really knows.

Best of luck, man. Maybe someone else will post in this thread who has a real answer for you.

I wouldn't think SE's could as it's a password protected page. Besides, even it they could, so what and why only "new members"?

Steve, apologies if you were kidding about Florida.

Florida is the name given to the latest Google shake-up. *Some* pages that use to rank well for certain keywords and phrases are now finding themsleves pushed waaaayyyy down the list.

Whether this has been good or bad for the Google searcher is very hard to tell as yet.Only time will tell! Reading this forum (and other Webmaster haunts) you will find that most do not like the latest shake-up. However, this must be taken with a pinch of salt as most only have their own pages in mind and naturally are biased. We should also understand that it's often a vocal minority that makes the most noise, while the happy ones keep silent.

To me the whole Florida shake-up has left me in *about* the same Google traffic position as before (ever increasing). I see the reason for this being our 10,000 + pages that Google has spidered. I.e. some pages drop while others rise. *I cannot stress enough* the importance of constantly adding content pages! As a rule of thumb, any site relying on traffic from < 100 pages is not spreading the risk anywhere near enough. Remember that Google has over 3.6 Billion pages.

Personally I still find the Google results far better than any other Search Engine from my daily use.
