will source tags get picked up by google?

Hi there,

I have a client who has affiliate partners. Their partners use a tag something like: www.**.com/?ab=amazon. This tag gets picked up by google, and the affiliate gets a free referral from it. My question is would www.**.com/?source=amazon be better?

they are one and the same, whether it is source or ab shouldn't make a difference.

I mean indexed. My client's url comes in about 10th in google right now, but the link that is listed is

Welcome to our site title
blah blah description...
www.**.com/index.php?b=amazon

Should i recommend that all of their affiliates use www.**.com/index.php?source=amazon in the hopes that google will index www.**.com/index.php

What I see being the problem at the moment, is that the instead of these links all appearing to link to the place on the site and increasing that page value, the links appear to googlebot to go to different pages.

Thoughts?

I have EXACTLY the same issue, I think I know how to resolve it but could do with some help regarding some specifics.

I have the same issue with my affiliates and to date, (6 months+) I have not seen any affiliate pages linking to me via Googles Backlinks :o( So I would say the answer is you will not get the credit.
