Florida is good for us all

Why?

Most of you are probably wondering why I believe this. Unlike many of you, my sites have not suffered in the rankings; however, that has nothing to do with the reason I believe Florida is good.

Why is Florida good?

Because it is not in our interest for a SEO method to become standardized.

If Google kept its algo the same, then the whole world would figure out how to get high rankings. If everyone knows how to get high rankings, then we are all out of jobs.

We don't ever want a SEO method to become standard enough that software, or the kid next door, can reproduce it.

If Google decided that its pre-Florida algo was perfect and would never make any changes, then in 10 years everyone would be producing highly-optimized sites.

The only way that we will have high-ranking sites is if search engines continually change, so that we can figure out how to use the changes to give us a temporary advantage.

To be in the SEO business you have to expect and embrace changes. You also have to be willing to learn and do research.

The good thing for us is that there are many people out there that don't want to do the research to figure out how to stay on top.

I, for one, am happy to see an update. Because of our participation in this forum, we will adjust quickly and get our sites back to the top. The typical web site owner won't even know there has been a change in Google by the time we have recovered.

My guess is that those complaining in the forums are those that maybe spam hardest and got badly bitten by the update/refresh.

Harsh and completely untrue

The hardest to be hit is the ADULT TOYS ECOMMERCE industry as most keywords that are used are money words, all of our competition has gone including our sites except the lingerie clothing sites AS THESE WORDS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT IN THE DICTIONARY

See for yourselves.

My traffic for some of my sites has dropped to about 5%-10%since the google update but the same time I am noticing an increase of hits from other SE. How is this explained? Can it be attributed to the fact that since the florida update people are using other Search Engines more frequently? Anyone else has similar experiences?

Yes we have noticed increase traffic from av and all the web where we are still in the top5

Pity the public have been brainwashed by google.

Ask jeeves looks good.

The public are starting to hear about the Florida update. I've seen quite a few business/finance articles about the update.

I will post one (so I don't upset the mods too much).

All those rooting for Altavista and/or Alltheweb are implicitly assuming that these SEs can withstand the intense pressure and microscopic focus of the thousands of SEOs trying to beat the system, as they do with G now. And they assuming that these SEs will produce good results (with reasonable levels of spam) after such a carnage. When was the last time you optimized for Altavista or Alltheweb?

I've been using Google as both course of traffic and information for years, BUT today when I decided to buy a audio system I was trying to locate a store in Australia and GG showed me BS for all quiries I could come up with. I was always sure that Google is #1, but today I had to use ATW. Shame.

(I just want to add, that my site was not affected by Florida update and I am not assiciated with "audio system" industry)

It is impossible for Google, or anyone who posts here, to work out (without reasonable doubt) the quality of the serps at this point in time.

There are many points of view and subjective analysis on many webmaster boards. BUT it is clear that something is wrong with Google.

Whatever it is that is wrong is causing problems for surfers now.

I just did a search for "map of nyc" and I got a blogger as #1?

Since my "lynch mob" comment got referred to a few times...

Yes, it was an observation, meant as somewhat of a joke. If you read the post two msg's before that one, it will give an idea of what I was commenting on.

As I've tried to indicate, I'm in neither camp wrt Google serps, I find all the SE's spammy and always have.

GG, don't worry, if the villagers come for you, you can hide in the castle with me and Igor... :-)

Now back to avoiding the Florida threads...
