For the past few days my site hasn't had any visit from googlebot 2.1, that could possibly explain why my site has been taken of google.

is anyone out there encountering the same problem?

Also i am seeing results on yahoo that were on google about 2 weeks ago now. Anyone els seeing this.

Probably not, but maybe. Hard to tell with the info given.

We wish (if you meant prior to the 15th or so).

What I don't get is that Googlebot is visiting every single day, grabbing our 'index' page as normal, yet has dropped it almost entirely from the SERPS.

If it doesn't like the page any more, why does it keep coming?

I don't understand that either.

I am getting visits every day from crawler8 and crawler9 to a site which google has their "funky voodoo ban" on.

The pages are in the index but they don't show up for any searches, have no PR, and none of the 1289 backlinks show up in google.

If they really do hate extremely content rich sites with large numbers of diverse backlinks like this one, then why do they keep visiting?

note: "funky voodoo ban" is the one where "webmaster@google.com" claims they don't do any manual penalties.

I've noticed a considerable drop in googlebot activity over the past 48 hours, and the SERPs I monitor have no fresh tags. Yesterday, I noticed a mixture of Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 fresh tags across the same SERPs.

The last time this confluence of events happened, the Florida update struck shortly thereafter and spawned great sadness. Are we on the brink of something significant?

I too have noticed a drop in Googlebot activity. For a while there Googlebot visited the index page every day without fail, but went no deeper. Now Googlebot has been nowhere near my site for the last few days, going on to a week. Fresh tags are off the page in question.

The site in question has been hit by this mysto-filter, maybe the decrease in visits has to do with that?

I have always had wide fluctuations in how much traffic I get from googlebot, so I really don't attribute anything to it. But I thought I would add some data points from someone who did well in Florida.

So far today, my 4 sites have each received about twice as many visits from googlebot as the averagefor November. But these numbers are still lower than during the big crawl days.

For example, site 1:

November - 7385 visits or 230/day. But a 3 day period accounted for around 3000 of those hits, with the biggest day getting around 1500.

December 1, 12 noon - 375 in half a day.

This is not a significant enough increase to draw any conclusions on its own.

You really need to collect data from more people that have been hit by Florida and those that have done well before you can draw any conclusions.
