Hi have a site all about "blue widgets". Its also the name of the site.
All people link to me with "blue widgets".
And it appears that after Florida update my site is being penalized for this keyphrase :(

I can't just tell all the people to stop linking me with the same keyphrase.

What to do?

I know of one three word phrase that is definitely being filtered

sex toys uk

This seems to have had a massive effect on innocent uk sex toy businesses as most of our client are adult related this is not good for us, good job i dont rely on google personally though for my other business interests.:)

espeed,

Your competitors can sabotage you now. Trust me on this one, or prove it to yourself (or your competitors <evil grin>).

GoogleGuy has never said competitors couldn't sabotage you. He just said it was hard.

It's not quite as hard any longer. He has not repeated his statement that it is hard since Florida.

Hi, just wanted to say that these forums have been a great help in understanding what is going on with Google as I was at a loss (well still am) when my website dropped from position 2-3 on my main two key word search to PAGE 13! :(

At first I thought it was Adsense, thought maybe Google didn't want to pay me more, as the two main keywords are pretty popular.

I run a fan site for a popular collectible item, really I am the perfect internet website in terms of having a TON of content, no spam, no ads (except AdSense) a pretty good layout etc..and my site is Only about "Round Widgets" (two words) So those two words appear a lot on my site I assume to much for Googles new filter from what I understand.

Very frustrating to drop from the tip top to page 13, I am just glad I don't depend on my site for income, I feel for those who do, this was a awful thing for google to do this time of year.

My domain also contains one of the keywords in it like, aboutwidgets.com, my sites ranking is a 6, higher then even the official companies ranking and any other related sites ranking.

No idea what to do to get my listing back at the top, annoying to see the top sites are old out of date sites, or even one of the top ones is a negative site against this item.

Going to attempt to change my title and some wording I guess :( Shame on Google!

Thanx for vent space and the wonderful set of forums here!

:)

I wish I was on page 13 :(

I started on page 1, slipped to page 43, and now I am not even before page 100 and can't be bothered to look any further.

I have over 10 optimized pages where people link using the specific keywords.

Example:
Page A would have title "Buy Blue Widgets from Company Name"
and all the people link to this page use the text "Buy Blue Widgets"

No drop the the PR. Actually my pages are performing much better after Florida.

That would make sense if they are looking for true relevancy..

perhaps they are looking for a high accuracy to low no. of kw ratio...

One of my sites do not appear for any of it's keywords.

What spam filters do you think Google is currently implementing?

Who thinks the Florida update is finally over (12/03/03)?

Just as I thought, GoogleGuy reaffirms that your competitors can't sabotage you:

"..webmasters can't really sabotage other people's sites.."

LOL! I see so many webmasters and SEO's here that are their own worst enemy.
