Hello everyone,

I am very new to web development and have read some great info here. This is my first post, and I am really confused. I am getting all kinds of great serps lately, sevreal number 1's for many of my keywords, but I haven't got any PR. My site has been up for about a month now. 3 and a half weeks with content. Is there a problem with my domain or am I banned? I get the high serps in google and yahoo both.

sincerely,
confused new guy!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Some possibilities:

  • Google is often very kind to new websites, and gives them a guesstimated PR that is higher than they'll get when the real value is calculated;
  • You don't have any real way of knowing yout real PR anyway -- that figure in the google toolbar is erratic;
  • you'd get great SERPS if you are searching for things that not many sites have:
    [blue]"widgets for tall midgets"[/blue]
    for example, is a comparatively uncompetitive phrase (though I've no idea of its commercial value).

    Well, I've got good links going in to my site, with many from some high PR sites and long standing sites in the same industry

    - My keywords search phrases are also competitive for the most part, they only started registering about 4 days ago.
    I am also now placing higher than many long standing sites in the same category.

    * I guess my real question is.. "Does no PR mean that a site is not good in Google's eyes?" or if I am getting 'good' serps with relevant and competitive keywords does it mean that the PR will eventually follow?

    I am not sure of the importance of PR. I feel left out because I don't have it, but why is it important if I am getting the serps? I am really confused about this stuff.

    Hope you can "unconfuse" me, sincerely,
    new fella

    newfella, when they know about your links and when PR finally shows are two different things. Relax and forget about the toolbar for the site for several more weeks.

    thanks for the info. Hopefully in a year or two I will have the knowledge to be able to help people out the way you people do. Very much appreciated, and I am sure I will have more questions. Actually I do, but I will research the former posts first.

    sincerely,
    New fella!

    newfella, you will learn a lot here. I think everybody does. I learn a lot here and still try to hang around here for new stuff and everytime I am in here, I am out with a new feeling in mind. New ideas just pop out when you see other people discussing about the topic you always wanted to learn.

    Welcome to WebmasterWorld Anyways.
