Forum Moderators: open
I'm trying to get my PR up.
It's currently PR0 despite not being banned by G and being #1 for my keywords.
Anyway, an industry portal is offering to link to my site using: h*tp://theirsubdomain.theirdomain.com/redirect/?url=h*tp://www.mydomain.com
They are charging AUD$150/year for the link alone (over and above their other charges).
Another also charges and uses:
h*tp://www.theirdomain.com/redir.asp?destination=h*tp://www.mydomain.com&merchid=999
Will either of these link methods increase my PR?
(BTW, after reading other posts I'm going to tell them to take their $150 and shove it)
Thanks Heaps
Kenton
Not all industry portals are created equal. There are some that are well maintained, are genuine hub quality, and not only are decent for rankings and/or PR, but those factors aside, can send some targeted direct traffic or make a site visible for branding and name recognition. It's all worth something.
Not all are like that, and it can take some time to find them and learn to recognize what is or isn't worthwhile.
What you probably need to do is go through past posts in the Link Development forum, and a lot in the Google forum and spend time finding quality, on topic links and setting them up nicely. There's loads of information.
You're probably PR0 just because of not having enough PR coming into the site to be able to have any. Or, maybe there is some PR but it just isn't showing up yet, it does take a while.
Not a worry, it's just something that takes a little time and effort.
Maybe I should rephrase the question.
Will the above 2 types of links be followed by Googlebot?
Or are they the PR hogging type with no "Google Value".
I link to other sites by using the standard <a href> and I'm not quite sure on these other types of redirection.
Thanks
