301 redirect and PR

When does PR get redirected?

Hi

I'm new to all this and had created a site a few months ago www.mydomain.com which had a PR2

In the last couple of weeks I copied the site to www.mydomain.com.au and created a .htaccess file that did a permanent redirect (301) to the new site. This works well.

Google is spidering my new site and it shows up as #1 for my keywords. (Something I'm pretty proud of)

BUT both my home page and my optomised 2nd level page have a PR0. Has been that way for about a week or so. Cache has been updated twice since then as well, but PR still 0.

Does the big G hold back on releasing PR after an update or have I done something wrong?

Thanks
Kenton

Kenton,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

That's all that really matters.

Wait 30 to 60 days and see if the toolbar PR display updates. Watch here for news of a backlinks update -- That's probably when you'll see a change.

You should also verify [webmasterworld.com] that your old URLs 301-redirect to the new ones as expected. If that works, and you show up in the SERPs at #1 for your keywords, then don't worry about it -- the "PR meter" acts funny sometimes.

Thanks for that Jim

The verification link confimed that all is OK

I'll just sit back and wait then.
