Why doesn't directory.google.com settle down?

directory.google.com keeps changing

A couple of weeks ago directory.google.com began showing updated DMOZ content after having used the same for several months.
BUT - for some reason Google keeps sticking to the old directory once in a while.
Some of the datacenters are still displaying the old DMOZ and are allowed into the directory.google.com rotation so sometimes you get the old DMOZ and sometimes the new, Why don't they settle on one? This has lasted for weeks.

Hi, runboy, welcome to WW.

It appears as though Google has been busy with other things lately. Probably, when hurricane Florida has finished blowing through, they'll get caught up with the dmoz/google directory listings.

I have noticed the same thing but have no idea why this keeps happening?

I have noticed since the last update that a search in directory.google.com for widgets brings up exactly the same results as google.com with only some of the pages having directory listings. I don't recall seeing these kind of results before the latest update.

Directory search is just the same as regular search, and this started occuring weeks before the update. A few threads on it.

Hi Steve,

Would you mind pointing to any of these threds that you think are worth a dig into please. In my floundering for answers to other questions I've noticed that directory is returning exactly the same results as web search even when I use allinanchor: etc. Also the cat returned does not match any of the 5 cats returned in DMOZ.

I been wondering why google cannot give the exact search results in searching the URL of [french-riviera-casino.com....]

Actually the URL is listed in google directory but when you search the URL different results is found not the URL that you want to find.

Please tell me why?

Thanks,
Casper
