How to Find a Good PageRank Broker

...a friend of mine wants to know

Yes, buying and selling PageRank is a shady business, but like it or not, it's done every day. I'm sure many people on this site have sold and/or bought links from high PR sites.

My question is, how do I go about finding a no-nonsense, competent "broker" who will help me get some paid links on PR5-PR8 pages?

I have found a few individual sites that offer paid text links, but it's been quite a hassle hunting for more. I would like to outsource this job to a pro who has connections. I do not want SEO consultation. All I want is to be hooked up. Any general suggestions? Thanks.

I wouldnt bother. I tried it for a while, spending about $3k a month, it gave me a good Pagerank, but made no difference to positions. Also since this latest update all the links have been removed.

You look around you will get good sites with pr and just do link exchange. My site is now pr 6 with only some quality link exchange.

Try a Google search. ;) Seriously, I found some just now doing that. The problem is likely Google has also found these sites, and spies have figured out many sites that are selling PR, and not allowing them to pass it on. Thus, using the obvious PR brokers sounds like a bad idea.

Also, I repeat likely buying PR ain't worth it. PR is a smaller factor in the Google algo today than it ever has been. Googleguy even once commented this was done to deal with the buying and selling of PR.

Can you point me to that thread. I highly doubt GG admitted this.

No. It was in an update thread a number of updates ago. I distinctly remember him posting that. It was in response to someone who speculated that was why PR was counted less than ever to combat buying and selling of PR, and GG confirmed this. There is no reason why he shouldn't. It was already accepted around here that PR was a much less of an algo factor. Thus, he wasn't spilling any secrets that hadn't been figured out. And, even if it this wasn't true, consider that GG's bosses would *like* him going around saying basically "you ain't gonna get very far with Google just buying a few high PR links from other sites." This is something that Google wants to discourage. What GG's bosses wouldn't like is him confirming techniques that actually do work to manipulate Google.

Considering that you can buy PR7 text links for £200 p/a seems like the demand for buying PR is dropping off. Says it all really.

PR may still be useful but I think with the current update it is used in a more indirect way than it used to be. Having high PR is no good if you don't know how to use it - and I doubt anyone (except G) could explain how it contributes to the algo now.

Basically, don't bother.

If google finds a site that is selling links for PR then they will penalize that site, and this penalty will not allow the PR or link to pass on to that site.

<<consider that GG's bosses would *like* him going around saying basically "you ain't gonna get very far with Google just buying a few high PR links from other sites." >>

That is much different than openly admitting the devaluation of PR because they couldn't overcome the abuse.
