I may have a problem with too many keywords in my address.

My site, www.a-red-widget-site.com has been #1 at Google for "a red widget site" ever since I created it.

But I have been chasing the searchphrase "i like to paint widget" for a few months. I optimised a page [a-red-widget-site.com...] But I am always around page 30, and the page returned is my index page, which barely mentions "i like to paint widget".

So tonight I got off my butt, and did allinurl: www.a-red-widget-site.com. And again with omitted results displayed. EVERY page except my optimised page was indexed.

I typed in www.a-red-widget-site.com/i-like-to-paint-widget.htm". And it wasn't found. (I tried a separate page, www.a-red-widget-site.com/i-like-to-sing.htm and it was fine).

So I searched for pages containing "www.a-red-widget-site.com/i-like-to-paint-widget.htm". Here's where it gets interesting.

Google said "widget and any subsequent words were ignored because we limit queries to 10 words."

Aaaarrrggghh.

Is that why it's not indexed? It is the only page which uses so many words.

What can I do to fix it?

Rename the page to "like-to-paint-widget", update all my links, contact link exchange partners for an update, create a 404page, etc?

Any other suggestions? I'd love to know why my important page isn't being indexed.

(I tried asking this exact question at another forum, but got in trouble for using the word widget. Guess I won't go there again!)

Hanging out for an answer,
Chris

It's certainly not a problem.

I have a site, with a pretty automated CMS so I don't have to worry much about titling and so on. Disadvantage: it occassionaly makes names such as:

www.widget-world.com/widgets-and-widgetry/application-and-construction-of-widgets-other-people's-experiences-and-testimontials

A big-ass long url. Not really on purpose, just because the CMS produces the URLs from page titles automatically.

Anyways, it ranks just fine for google. And any ranking benefit it gets are most certainly from the titles and so on, as Google doesn't weight URLs heavily, and the URLs aren't used in any links (not in this shape anyways).

Thanks.

I think I will bite the bullet, and rename the page just in case.
I can't think of any other reason why this is the only page not indexed on my site. It even has PR3.
And in hindsight, it probably wasn't indexed at any time in the last few months, as I've never had a good position for the searchphrase I'm targetting.
