Backlinks not showing on Google?

Hey
Last week xyz.com, abc.com, qqq.com linked to my site. Now after google update I fell down a little. But I saw yesterday that the rankings changed again and I was better. But when I tried to check backlinks (from google toolbar) I could not find the links from xyz,abc and qqq (all these sites have PR 6 and up).
But I checked in alltheweb and those links were there.

So my question is:

1)If it doesnt show up on google and it does in alltheweb so that means google has not crawled it yet.

2)Since those links have not been crawled by google then the effect of those links are yet to effect my site ranking in google.

I will appreciate if somebody can help me explain this.

thanks
Deepak

OK, you've bumped this, so I'll leap in.

"PR6" doesn't apply to a site, only to a page. PR is PAGE rank, not Site rank...

It may well be that the home page of a site is PR6, but the links page is perhaps only PR3. It's a common trick to demote the links pages, not to spite those who receive the link, but to prevent PR leeching out from the site never to return...

Also, Google doesn't list links from pages that are under about PR4, though it does use them.

Only a week ago? Good grief!
If the links pages you've got links from are PR3 pages, rather than PR6 pages, you're going to have to be a lot more patient that this - think months not days. Though Google refreshes many site pages on a daily basis, it doesn't get anywhere near all of them..

But the world keeps on turning. And while it does, write more content, seek more links.

But slow down - if you expect Google to service your site this quickly, you'll worry yourself to an early grave, along with all those who are bursting blood vessels about a hiccup in Google that's lasted 7 days out of the last 100...

hey
I appreciate you replying to me. Well I know abt page rank an dstuff. My quesiton was the link I got from the other site " PAGE" has PR of 6. The link is on PR 6 page and it is coming to my page specific page.

If the links are showing in alltheweb not in google does that mean google has not indexed those incoming links?

I have been following google and I know in google is patience but I did experiment few thing on my sites after the update and the only reason why I asked the question bc I want to know if changes in mt website "particular keyword" ranking is because of those changes or the incoming links I got(which shows in alltheweb not google).

Because if those links are not counted yet by google then I migth be lucky and get the benefit when they are counted.

I hope i explained my self. Let me know what you think.
thanks
Deepak

I don't think we can assume that we're seeing all the most current all the time.

Good assumption. Very recently I was not seeing the backlinks between ODP categories that obviously should have been there. I have little faith in the accuracy of the link: command.

Try adding a trailing slash when checking DMOZ backlinks - might make a difference.

link:dmoz.org/Health 1-10 of about 24
link:dmoz.org/Health/ 1-10 of about 2,420
