I just put up a brand new site 8 days ago and Google spidered it and I had an entry in 3 days. I saw in my logs that people were getting to my site by typing in country name keyword keyword. The only place I have that country name is in the drop down box. When you click on the cache it says the terms are coming from the page.

The text in the dropdown box is valid text between valid HTML, isnt it? The action of the form may be Javascript, or a submit.

Google and other engines have always spidered this.

Ok so the question is did you know you could stick a drop down box on you site full of keywords and they help you rank better? Not that they spidered them but that they are content as far as gogle is concerened.

I have a hidden layer dropdown box that uses javascript and css and it gets crawled(static links)nicely. Kind of makes me wonder if the links would still get crawled even if there was no script to make it actually drop down? Can google tell if a hidden layer is actually usable or not?

No, they also show on backlinks.

I haven't had any problem with these, had them on this site for 2 years. It's legitimate, for design purposes, but I may change this soon.
