Having a directory, how ill this effect page rank?

I have to setup a directory on a homepage (like yahoo), any ideas how this will effect the overall pagerank? How will the page rank be distrbuted to the directory pages and other page etc?

Now... I was never one to listen mcuh to gossip... but I think that every link you have OUT of your site will have the effect of disseminating your page rank to other domains.

Then again... Yahoo has a pretty good page rank, so don't believe everything. (Mind you, they probably have a lotta links in as well...)
