I have 2 websites both were summitted at christmas 2002 and by febuary 2003 both sites were listed in the top 100 results for my main keywords, since then my sites have hardly moved possision, even though i now have alot more traffic to my sites and many more back links from related sites. so what can i be doing wrong? is it possible to get traffic from search engins these days?

Also when you type Link:myurl.com into google to see the back links to my site, this has not updated since i first submitted my websites?

Please help.

Welcome to the forums Adzzzz!

If you put your url in your profile it would be easier to give advice. If you don't want to put it in your profile, you can sticky me.

Going on the info you provided, there are couple reasons why this could occur:

1) There has been a lack of fresh content or new pages.
2) Are the pages optimized? If so, have the pages been adjusted (re-optimized) since that time? Initial optimization can usually be built upon.

I believe that as new member he can't post his homepage URL.

Adzz, the only backlinks that will show will be PR4+. Keep adding content/pages and try to get some higher PR links to the sites. If you can manage some new incoming links, try to get the anchor text, (<a href="http://yoursite.org">anchor text</a>) to be your keywords.

It is not the sort of website that gets continualy updated with new content its more of a shop with a few pages about the products i sell.

All pages have been optimized the same when i first submitted the website and it has not changed since.
