I now have several PR5 links and one PR6 links and a few PR4 and less...But no pagerank on my site yet...how long does pagerank take to show up with the new google style?
Also, i started off my keyword at 44, adjusted the text then went up to 32 in a day, but I am not sure if I will go up further once PR is calculated...
Anyone can offer any advice/experience?
Thanks so much!
Advice based on experience: Have patience and just keep working on the site to make it better and better for users just as though there were no Google.
The old Google seemed to be in a monthly crawl/update cyclical pattern, and if you missed the early-month crawl you'd have to wait for the update following the next one to see changes accurately reflected. It isn't the same now, but it's probably safe to say that if you give two months leeway before getting concerned in any way you're probably on pretty safe ground.
Before, we knew when the crawl happened so it was clear if we missed it or not, but with the new method I am not quite sure how to know how much longer it will be. :)
Sit tight and listen to Marcia. OK, well, don't just sit there and do nothing. But just focus on making a great site.
8 months ago, I came to Webmaster world having blown my budget on adwords, making lots of sales but no money. I wasn't even in Google. Now that site is a PR5, doing 30k / month visitors.
I put up a new site last month. In the index in a week. Waiting for the PR update like yourself.
I guess what I am trying to say is work hard, cos' the stuff they're peddling at this place really works.
Suggy
Around the third week of last week of August 23rd or 29th), September (28th or 29th) and October (26th?) there have been significant changes in our inbound traffic from google.
This is usually due to a PR related boost or other sites being knocked down the SERPS. The PR boost then leads to a deeper crawl which sets us up for some more traffic. The PR boost often does not show up in the toolbar as it could be a decimal change... or it could be a competing site has been lowered.
There is definately some sort of update cycle that happens towards the end of the month. My bets for this month's update is the 29-30 of November.
My analysis is based on my number of unique visitors plotted by day and co-relating them to "oh my god something is happening at google" type threads here on the site. My evidence are far less scientific than the folks who claim PR does not matter and there is no "big" update at google. Could just be related to sunspot activity. :)
There is one thing that seems to be happening for sure... inbound links from directories or pages with the word links (links.php / links.html ) in them, seem to be discounted.

If this is true, it would be a worrying development. Link pages are extremely useful for information sites. I suspect most inbound links at "authority" sites are from link pages.
Has anyone else any experience that this is happening?
Harry

My link pages are named widget1-links.php, widget2-links.php, etc., and they all have PR and have been indexed recently.
