Form links Vs. Normal Links

Form links: good way to block/channel PR?

I've been doing some research on what the best link structure is for channeling all my PR to the homepage.
From what I've gathered, each article or sub-page should only have ONE link on it. And that link should be pointing towards the home pages.

Thats how I have the navigation set up on my homepage.

The homepage has normal links on the left, but all sub pages have form button links on the left. (they look similar thanks to some css work.)

Does anyone else try to channel PR by using form links?

Is this a good, bad idea?

Thanks.

Ibiza, I'm not sure what you mean by form buttons in regard to PR transfer - those form buttons don't trigger any action? Could you clarify?

I assume the idea here is that only "normal" links transfer PR, so that "non-normal" links (JavaScript/Form) should be used to enable navigation to certain pages without passing PR to them.

Purely from a technical POV that may be correct; however, I doubt that it's a good idea to "concentrate" your PR in a single page!

(Let's *ignore* for now that PR is not what it used to be, in terms of effect on the SERPs)

You might be better off by *spreading* your PR evenly across the pages of your site, and have each page focus on a specific keyword phrase (red widgets, green widgets, furry widgets), instead of trying to build that killer page that will rank #1 for "widgets"...

My 2c.

Eltiti, I agree with you. That method would work for a topic that has many sub-topics.

Unfortunatly, the topic of my site is the japanese language. The main key phrase im targeting is "learn japanese", which shows about 100,000 searched on overture.

However, I've looked up a lot of keywords that are more specific, and they just arn't worth optimizing for in my opinion. They don't get enough searched each month.

But then again, I could be wrong. I am knew to the whole SEO thing. But basically, I want all my PR going to the homepage, even if it means sacraficing pr on my sub pages.

How curious that the slightly differently-worded question, and several replies, mine included, have all been deleted and replaced by this - a slightly different thread.

For people like myself, who can't attend to this forum except in a few short windows in each working day, it's very mysterious to see hidden forces at work that change the topics as if by magic.

Yes - you're right - I'm bemused.
