Hiding outbound links with document.write...

Does this still work and is it worth doing?

I link to 3 sites at the bottom of every page of my site. One is my ssl provider and the other two serve as 3rd party hosts of reviews of my company. As far as conversions go the links are quite valuable so it isn't an option to just get rid of them.

I came accross this short but illuminating post from last year. It suggests using document.write to split up the urls into an undecipherable glob.

Is this technique still working for people? Should it undergo any further refinements? And this is worth doing, right?

Thanks.

If every page of your site gives links to, say, 10 other pages in your site, then the amount of PageRank you might lose by pointing visitors elsewhere is small.

Javascript is all very well, but a lot of visitors browse sites from behind a personal or business firewall that inhibits it, and I for one, find that I leave sites that dictate to me how I have to set my browser (especially if I *can't* because of the firewall!)

I'd mke your site as transparent and free from constraints as you can. And if, on the way, you can give your visitor 6 or 10 good pages on your own site as well as the three links out, you'll give them an excellent browsing experience that may well do you the power of good.
