Through several updates, my internal pages appear to have been penalized with pr0, despite my index page having a pr7. I am trying to figure out why. I saw several postings a while back about internal page penalties, but can't seem to find them now. The only thing I can think of is that all of my pages utilize the same title (because my host/web package doesn't offer the option of creating different titles for each page although I am working with them to to try to get them to allow page-specific titles).

Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks!

More than likely, it is not a penalty, it is the title problem. If you do a G search for allintitle:yourtitle, how many pages show? Probably one.

If your web host does not allow changes of titles for each page, it's time to switch. If never heard of a web host who forces only one title, but I tend to only work with big name hosts (always up, good support, etc.) I'm paying $20 a month. If your current host is charging you near that, then you are not getting what you pay for, imo.

Do in the inner pages' URLs appear a questionmark (?).
It seems like the ToolBar doesn't display PR for urls with query-strings.
These Pages DO have PR but don't show it.

Hmmm I think you have selled links at your PR7 site or you have installed too much outbound links on every page of your site! Google would never penalize wbesites with the same title but they penalize websites which sell lots of links!
If you could tell me your url I can look at this!

I dont sell links. And I only have 4 or 5 outbound links from each page. The only thing I can think of is the duplicate title for each page. Also, there are question marks in the url of inner pages. Toolbar always shown the pr for those pages prior to 3 months ago for those pages.

Incidentally, I just checked allintitle and most of those internal pages were excluded from the serps. I had to run the search with the omitted pages included to see them. Does this mean duplicate penalty was applied? Would that cause pr0?

C, how are those interior pages ranking?

And is it the host that doesn't allow different titles, or is it the particular program or script you're using to generate those dynamic pages? Is mod_rewrite available with the hosting?

Well, I think it's not the hosting problem but the scripting trouble. All pages use same data from the database. You need a programmer to take care. Act fast before Google's hammer hits harder.
