Lots of anchor text from PR0s

Any good?

Suppose I had 5,000 pages on a brand new (secondary)site whose home page is PR3.

Each of the 5,000 pages has a link to my main (target) site with the competitive anchor text of "red widget".

Leaving PR aside, would this strategy get me approx #1 for allinanchor: red widget?

Bear in mind all the pages linking to the main site would probably be PR0/1s

Doing some research....
TIA

Of course. Above all you never know what becomes of a PR0.

Yes for an allinanchor search. But you want it to effect the main serps? there has been a lot of discussion about the possiblity of a threshold point for anchor text. I do not have the answer to this not having 5,000 pages to test with. :) However I am just cautious and wary of using a sledge hammer.

If others with more experience than me give an emphatic yes then take their advise.

A link is a link is a link.

Agreed.

However rather than just using 5,000 links with same anchor text pointing at one page, spread it about a bit deep link and use different anchor text.

I've read about being banned for interlinking. Is having 5000 links from one site that you own linking to your second new site an example of interlinking?

LOL?
That's what we all wish, but never happens.

The idea is that each of my 5,000 pages links to each of the 300 pages on the main site so I think that should be ok.

The only slight concern is your other point about there being a threshold barrier for anchor text. I've heard rumours about this but don't know how accurate it is.

So there are 300 and more links on every one of 5000 pages?

Yes rumours! I do think it is worth paying attention to rumours even if they are and prove only to be rumours. With regard to the threshold if this was the case a competitor of mine would be long gone and they are far from gone! They use a sledge hammer approach to anchor txt.

Personally I think it’s worth building for longevity and attempt to ride through the algo changes with a tortoise and hare mentality, but I don’t always listen to myself.

The idea of 5,000 pages each with 300 links I do find rather alarming!
