Effect of domain name registration

Is it safe to change your domain's registration info?

Hello,

Unfortunately, spammers have gotten hold of the email address I used to register my domain name (the one that appears in the WHOIS database). I am considering deleting that email address and using a new one. Do you suppose that could have a negative impact on the website's listings in Google? There are posts mentioning that Google does review the WHOIS entries for a domain. If Google notices that that email has changed, would it assume a transfer of ownership and reduce the importance of the website?

Thanks

Joe

i cant see that making any difference. if sites with proxys are unaffected how can sites with full details be affected? Plus there may be hundreds of reasons why you may want to change the contact details. It doesnt amount to a change of ownership. And even then its only if the domain has actually expired and then be re-registered that there may be a problem.

We're required to keep that info up-to-date. You can change it without any problems. Just make sure it's a valid working address.
